Even though I am long out of the “looking for a baby name” stage, I have always loved to look up my name, sibling’s names, and my children’s names in different baby name books. I also love browsing baby name books while helping friends choose that perfect name for their bun in the oven. I feel that every book says something a tad different about each and every name. That’s what makes it fun!

Bringing Back Beatrice is a new baby name book that focuses more on traditional classic baby names. Written by Jennifer Griffin, a writer and mother from New York city and published by Workman Publishing you will find with over 1,108 names listed there are many to browse through and choose from. Also, Bringing Back Beatrice includes a definition, name’s use in history, variations, connotations, and nicknames for each listing you’ll have even more options and ideas!

I received a copy of Bringing Back Beatrice and had fun looking up my kiddo’s names! I actually learned a few new things too. I found out that Maddox, my younger daughter’s name, means Fortunate, and as usual, is found in the boy’s section (which I love)! My son Bub’s actual name is James and I learned an alternative to James is Semaj, or James spelled backward.

I also loved how Bringing Back Beatrice added a bit of funk and playful attitude like mentioning that Eric (hubs’ name) was the name of the prince in The Little Mermaid or that the name Jameson might be associated with porn star Jenna Jameson LOL! That is keeping it real and I loved it! I had a blast browsing through this book and plan to hold onto it for safe keeping in hopes my little sister will need to look at it sooner rather than later.

If you currently don’t have a need for this book because you’re out of the baby stage like I am, don’t forget this would make a great present for a newly pregnant friend or a couple you know who is TTC!
