Continuum Games Review & Giveaway (12/20)

by Marcie on November 30, 2011

Part of the fun during the holiday season for my entire family and I is playing games together. We always love games that will get us talking, laughing, and playing as a group. I feel it’s a wonderful way to bond and have a good time. Our favorite game night is New Years Eve, where the adults make a variety of appetizers and stay up late playing game after game. There isn’t much, if any, alcohol involved, and we’re cooped up inside our warm home, but it’s the best way I have ever brought in the New Year (and I live in Las Vegas don’t forget)

Continuum Games is a company who’s simple mission is to bring families together through exciting games that appeal to all generations. First formed by a husband and wife in 2007, the company has grown from a small game manufacturer into a full blown game publishing company with it’s own line of award winning family games, educational games, party games and travel games and also serve as a distributor to the BEST in class games from independent manufacturers. We had the opportunity to review two different Continuum Games that are both perfect for families this holiday season!Family Talk 2 is the perfect way to engage your family in conversation. A set of 100 exciting questions on a round clip makes this fun, portable game wonderful for long car trips, dinner conversations or perfect for a lazy afternoon at home. The questions, such as “Name all of the pets you have ever had” and “Have you ever felt homesick? What made you feel better?” give a look into the true thoughts of family members and are sure to get everyone talking and laughing. I love how they’ve appropriate for all ages and great for any occasion! I will be bringing our set to Christmas dinner to liven up the meal with some real chit chat. I also like how portable Family Talk 2  is so it can fit into a purse, diaper bag or suitcase!

Lumps: The Elf Coal Game, is another wonderful treat from Continuum Games and couldn’t be more perfect for this time of year. The legend has it that children have been so good lately there has been excess coal built up in the North Pole and the elves didn’t know what to do with it all. They decided to create a fun game that used coal as dice! The object of Lumps to score the most points in three rolls by rolling pairs of the same number. Roll a pair of 3s, score 3 points a pair of 10s scores 10 points. What makes the game unique is that it has four different types of dice and there are few high numbers. On each turn you have to make decisions on which dice to keep and re-roll. Do you play it safe and hold a pair of 4s, or chance it and try for a high pair? It’s a bit like Yahtzee, only in the true spirit of the season.

I’ve enjoyed playing both of these Continuum Games and certainly recommend them both as wonderful stocking stuffers! While browsing the website I’ve also come across many other games that look like a super good time, so make sure to check those out as well during your gift search!
