Confession of the day: I can usually be found wearing my hair one of two ways. Either in a clip pinned up for the day or straightened with a flat iron and worn down. Why is this a confession you may ask? Well technically I am still a licensed cosmetologist, which means I went to school to do hair, nails, and skin services. I wish I spent more time on my own hair but that aside, I love trying and creating new styles with my daughters’ hair. It’s always fun to get creative and they also enjoy sporting different dos at school each day.
Lilla Rose is an awesome company that is making having a spectacular hair day and creating unique hairstyles even easier. Created in 1992 John Dorsey was shocked at the cost of materials his wife purchased to create beaded chopsticks for her hair. He decided to create an exact item for a much lower price. After almost ten years of mediocre success, John and his family’s products, mainly the Flexi Clip, were finally noticed at a weekend marketplace. From there on Lilla Rose took off booming and today, they offer hair sticks, orings, hairbands, and bobby pins, as well as, of course, their best sellers, the Flexi clips. Lilla Rose offers an independent consultant opportunity (much like Avon, Mary Kay, etc) that allows people to easily offer some extra income thanks to their unique products and affordable startup process.
My generous Lilla Rose consultant is Deb Toms and she sent my daughters and I two different Flexi clips to try out! Now before I went off to select one of the many clip designs I thought would be perfect for us, I took a moment to watch the Sizing and Style video. This was a MUST watch and a crucial factor in learning about the Flexi clips and choosing the ones that were best for us. I figured since Makenna and I have fine hair, we would do perfectly with a small for almost all of our style options. We agreed on the Skull and Crossbones design, so very up our alley but adorable and girly none the less. Our second choice was a medium for Maddox, since her hair is long, straight, and very thick. I knew this would be her size for a ponytail and a tails up. I also knew she could use our small size for her half up style. We selected the Way Out Peace Sign design, another clip that certainly suited us. These two sizes were a win/win for the three of us!!

When our Flexi clips arrived, Makenna wanted to be the first one to wear it! I agreed and we decided we’d do a tails up style on her using our small sized clip. Although it was my first experience with any Lilla Rose products, using them were simple! Although the Flexi clips LOOK and feel sturdy and strong, they actually DO flex and it was easy to secure Makenna’s curly locks into place. These photos were taken before school, however, I am so thrilled to report that her hair held wonderfully all day and she came home looking exactly like this that afternoon. If a Lilla Rose Flexi clip can withstand a 7yr old’s entire school day, that certainly passes my test for durability!

The medium sized Flexi clip did work for Maddie’s tails up, however, in hindsight, I should have went with a large for her. Her hair, even at 5yrs old, is just that thick and she has a LOT of it. She wanted the same style as her big sister that day. The clip also held for her entire school day, which is only half that of Makenna’s, but Maddie still felt special and received compliments on her Lilla Rose accessory. She also loved being included in a “big girl” review!

Makenna loved the Flexi clips so much, she asked to wear the other one, our medium size, her own way. I agreed and this is what she came up with. I helped of course. I think it’s cute and creative. What a wonderful way of showing that you can go beyond even the recommended styles with Lilla Rose products. We had a blast wearing our Flexi clips and I’m already deciding which hairstyles we will try out next with them! A wonderful, fast way to help with a blah hair day!
